A great resort, if a little crowded and a bit of a treck to the ski lifts. Great hotel and lovely walks.

Whilst being value for money, the niggles can be annoying: some disjointed links between lifts and pistes, limited bus access across all three areas. Good points to note: Not too busy, lift queues quite short, plenty on piste restaurants at reasonable price, good variety of piste, whilst not being the highest it seems fairly snow sure based on easy accessible snow depth history, and north facing.

We stayed over Christmas in Wildshonau. Not their fault but hardly any snow so fewer slopes open and all used snow canons, which made it very icy and not brilliant for beginners/unconfident skiiers. But we were very impressed with how much effort had been made to get some slopes running. It was not crowded, the ski school was great, and our hotel (Hotel Tirolerhof) was absolutely brilliant. We had a great time but this is not the place for wild young party animals.

This is fantastic small resort with a local feel. The runs were never particularly busy which meant all of the mountain lunch and drink spots were also quiet. The town is very small with only limited food and drink options but is perfectly formed - we really enjoyed visiting a couple of bars each night. Ski hire was cheap too. A charming place and well worth a visit

My wife's family have been going to Alpbach for over 30 years. I've been going for 6. It's a quiet village with gorgeous architecture and restaurants and bars. Not very lively in the evenings for young people but one of the bars goes pretty wild a couple of nights each week.

The mountains are incredible. Amazing runs. Very quiet. Not many blacks so perfect for beginners and immediates but experts can have fun as well.

Bars and food on the mountain are lovely. Some great spots. The apre ski bar at the bottom of the mountain is great every evening.

If you are looking for a chiller out ski holiday that's value for money, I couldn't pick a better resort then Alpbach.

Went here a few years ago, it's a great resort. Very good value for money- it has some of the best skiing I've ever done but with everything you typically expect in a beautiful Austrian ski town, feeling way more organic than a lot of resorts in France. Go for it.

Alpbach was really family friendly. The hotel was clean with friendly staff, nice apres snacks.
Ski school for my children (4&6 at the time) was next level, with their own chalet with facilities and a sectioned off learner area, really gave us peace of mind.
Some really nice viewing points with red runs back to main lift. Fab holiday!!

Skiing was ok, but snow making facilities not that good and with the Snow being poor this time, the snow making needed to be on point which is wasn’t. Apres was terrible and pretty boring, which is not something I would associate with Austrian ski resorts

Great for those who like wide open runs. Generously graded runs give extra confidence to those looking to get to the next level. Good ski schools for all the family (ski check). Very pretty village and many excellent walks and activities for non skiers/boarders

Great family friendly resort with efficient lifts, quiet slopes and good ski schools. The main downside is this resit is quite low so whilst there is great potential for off-piste lack of snow meant this was not possible.

Really good well rounded resort. It is relatively limited so for someone for me who wants to hit off piste, park, and everything else under the sun it wouldn’t be my first pick. But I did a season here and absolutely loved it regardless. Great for beginners and family holidays will definitely return

I've been here twice now, it was where I learnt to ski as it was really good value for money for people starting out. Everything is reasonably priced compared to let's say France, especially lift passes and lessons, was a decent amount of blue runs for beginners, lots of tree lined runs so very picturesque. The ski jewel area is pretty big and definitely enough to keep intermediate skiiers from getting bored too. Always found the food good and the bars lively and friendly, had some great apres nights here!

Really fun beginner friendly resort! Great ski schools available. Stayed in the Luxe hotel which was ski in, ski out and had an amazing spa available. 10/10 would recommend.

I've visited several times and will be returning again in January. Slopes are pretty decent, quiet (outside of school holidays!). Stay in Niederau which is a little lively at times.

It's hard to give a true appraisal of the area. The weather was particularly mild so conditions were quite impacted.

It's a small area with limited run types. The week I skied the majority of runs were marked as red, but being very icy increased the challenge. The area lacks long winding blue runs for learners and intermediates to have a cruise on.

The village is small and offers no apres ski activities. There are a couple of restaurants which offer good food but get very busy due to lack of options.

Would I go back... unlikely. Limited skiing for a week's break. Seemed to be popular with locals or others within easy travelling distance.
